Any ideas what I should do for my daughter's first birthday?

Don't really want to spend 300 bucks at Gymboree for a birthday party, do you wise moms out there have any suggestions? I need ideas this week (by Friday 3/12).

Please help! We are based in Boston but any practical advice would be great, as we don't have to do something at a partcular location.

Thanks ladies!

  1. Congratulations to the little one on her first birthday party. We really did not do much for either of my son's first birthday's besides just family coming over. Sadly, I have no suggestions for that age, but just wanted to say "Happy Birthday". I am sure anything with the love of her family will make her happy at this age! :D

  2. Wow, people spend $300 for a 1st birthday? These birthdays are more for our memories as parents as opposed to the kids. They have no clue as to what is going on. Is there some way to celebrate how special she is? I'm guessing she doesn't have a ton of play friends and such so that will eliminate some cost, maybe? She's the princess for the day. :)

  3. Thanks ladies for your comments, I think I found a good compromise meaning I can do something for less that 300 bucks at my local kids music center.

Yup 300 buckarooneos for places like my gym and gymboree!
